Models of Drafting a Speech with solution
A game of your choice and prepare a speech to be delivered in your class.
My Favorite Game
Respected Sir / Madam and Dear Friends.
Today I am going to speak about a game of my choice. I play most of the outdoor games but I like the game of cricket most. Cricket is popular and played in most of the countries in the world. It is an international game. Prominent countries playin cricket are England, Australia, West Indies, India, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Nowadays cricket is played in three formats - Test matches, one-day matches and T-20 matches. The teams play with eleven players each. The captain of the team plays the key role in the game. The team includes batsmen. Bowlers and a wicketkeeper. Though T-20 matches of 20 overs each and one-day matches of 50 overs each are gaining popularity, the test matches of five days are played with passion religiously.
I am proud of Indian Cricket team who have won the T-20 World Cup on 24th September. 2008 in Johannesburg and one-day World Cup in 1983 and 2013 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev and Mahendra Singh Dhoni respectively. The game had its origin in England and is considered a gentleman's game. Don Bradman of Australia and Sachin Tendulkar are the legends in cricket. India has produced a number of world-class players like. C.K Nayudu, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, M.S. Dhoni, Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli and so many others.
Rules of the game of cricket are framed and decided by ICC (International Cricket Council ). Cricket keeps the players physically and mentally fit. It is a very interesting and exciting game. It gives joy to those who play it as well as those who watch it.

Taking Care of an Injured Bird
My friends kunal and I were playing in the backyard of our house. We heard a painful cry of a bird from the nearby bush. Both of us ran there. We found that a small bird was lying in the bush motionless. One of its wings was slightly moving. Somebody must have pelted it with a stone. It was injured. We tenderly placed it up from the bush and found that one of its wings was bleeding. I brought it to y house and put some drops of water in its beak to drink. I put some food grains before him. He looked a little fresh then. It moved a little.
We examined it and applied antiseptic ointment to its injured wing. Then we dressed its wing carefully without hurting it. It was looking comfortable and ate some grains. We kept it in a small basket with cotton spread in it. We shall keep it there for two-three days till it is completely cured and then we shall free it to fly in the sky.

The moment I reached Shivaji chowk, I saw a biker with a pillion rider moving speedily. As soon as they reached nearby chowk, the pillion rider snatched the golden chain of the women who was walking by the side of the road. Within a fraction of seconds, the rider raised the speed and disappeared from the scene. The women started shouting and crying and the people around came there to help her. Both the riders passed from my side and so I could see them easily and even noticed the number plate of their bike. So I joined the crowd and told them that I had noted down the number. Along with the old woman I decided to go to the police station nearby. The policemen told me to tell the number and give the description of the riders at the police station.
The police got the number of the bike and rang the control room and gave description of the riders. And told us to wait there for sometime. The woman was till crying I tried to console her but it was in vain. After 10 -15 minutes a police jeep stopped in front of us and two boys were brought inside. I was really surprised to see the boys there. The police asked me. "Are these the same boys who snatched the chain ?" . I said, "Yes, sir" and repeated the number of the bike they were riding.
The police handed over the gold chain to the old woman and praised my presence of mind and alertness. They also promised to punish the culprits. The old women thanked me and praised me. And then we came out of the police station. Everyone was surprised to see my name in the newspapers the next day. Our school gave me an award for my presence of mind.

One night, my sleep was suddenly disturbed by some strange noises coming from the direction of the drawing room. It was dark and I took a look at the radium dial on my watch. It was 3:30 a.m. Who could that be in the drawing room ?
I got up from my bed and taking the torch near my bedside, tiptoed softly into the room. What I saw there gave me the shock of my life. I could see a shadow busily engaged in ransacking the place. I could make out that it was a tall burly man. He had a sack into which he was putting in articles of the house, hurriedly, one after the other - our laptop , the alarm clock, our DVD player amongst other things. I was afraid and didn't know what to do. There was no way I could tackle this thief single - handedly. I had to get help. So I went to my parents' bedroom. I shook my father awake and whispered. "Papa, there's a thief in the house." Quickly he got up, looked around and found a walking stick. The two of us went barefoot into the drawing room.
The thief was too busy to notice us. Father went softly to the main door of our house and unlatched it without making any noise. Then father began shouting, "Chor, chor, chor !" The thief turned around in alarm and made for the door. but father blocked his way. I too was shouting at the top of my voice. There was a brief tussle between father and the thief. Within moments. however, neighbors had come to our rescue and the thief was quickly overpowered.
We called, in the police and the thief was arrested. It seems he was a notorious criminal and the police had been on the lookout for him for sometime. They praised our efforts at apprehending a man who was wanted by the police.

I was happy to get the mobile to use. When they left home, I also came and with them went for tuition. As soon as I reached classes, I showed my mobile to all my friends. Everyone liked it. After sometimes I kept my mobile in my bag and attended lectures. There was a recess and I went out with my friends to have some snacks.
As soon as I came back in the classroom, I was surprised to see my mobile missing. I searched everywhere. I asked everyone but I could not find it. Then I went to our class teacher and told about it. He took me to the room where CCTV monitor was installed. He showed me the footages. As soon as I saw the footages was surprised. The boy who took my mobile from my bag was none other than my good friend.
Our class teacher called him in the room and showed the footages to him The moment he saw it, he started crying and begging for pardon, He went inside and brought the mobile and pleaded not to tell anyone about it. I too promised him that I would not tell about it to anyone and thus I got my mobile back.

Lost in the Crowd
During the Deepavali holidays I went with my parents to see the Grand National Circus in our town. It was an exciting show. It was quite late when the show was over and there was a large crowd outside the circus tent.
As we moved towards the gate we saw a lady crying loudly. Her five - year -old daughter was missing. My mother went up to her and tried to comfort her. Many people joined in the search. However, the child could not be traced anywhere. My parents spoke to the lady and persuaded her to go to the nearest police station. We also went along with her. And what a pleasant surprise ! The child was there, crying but safe.
The women was simply delighted to get her lost child back.

You celebrated your birthday on the sparrow. Narrate your experience of the day.
...... I WAS HAPPY THAT I COULD DO SOMETHING NICE FOR THE SPARROWS.
My Happiest Day
It was Tuesday, the 20th March, 2018. It was my birthday and also was the 'Sparrows Day'. I had recently read an article about the 'disappearing sparrows' in Mumbai, I felt very sorry about their miserable condition. From that day I was thinking of doing something for the poor sparrows. Then I decided to celebrate my birthday differently.
I had collected the material I required for making the sparrows happy. I started to set up an open bird-cote near the window of my house. I made a box of light wooden planks. Then I nailed two steel bowls of water on both sides of the cote. I put some grains and seeds on the cote. I filled the bowls with water. I also put some sparrow food inside the box. The box was big enough for the sparrows to move in and out.
Then I waited for the sparrows to come. In the beginning they did come near the cote but did not enter in the cote. They were afraid. But soon, after some hesitation, they began to alight on the cote one after another. They ate grains and drank water. They chirped and twittered. The whole atmosphere was filled with joy at the sight of the twittering tiny sparrows. My parents and neighbors were very happy and thanked me for the gift I gave them on my birthday. The sparrows were assured that they were safe and no harm was done to them.
It was the biggest and the happiest day of my life. Everyone spoke high of me and praised me for my kind act. My joy knew no no bounds. I was feeling proud that I could do something nice for the sparrows in my own small way.

Write about flood-relief work in your locality.
Flood -Relief Work
My town, Naigaon faced terrible floods on the 22nd and 23rd of July. Due to heavy rains. the water from the nearby Govandi Dam was let out, and this made the flood situation even worse. People were warned of the water being let out of the dam four hours in advance. This much time, however, was not enough. People fled the areas with a few precious belongings. Many houses and a shops were destroyed. The police and the fire brigade helped out in certain areas, but that too was not enough. Finally the army had to be called out.
Many students from our school got together and formed relief work groups. We brought flood-affected people to the school, where a ,makeshift camp had been prepared. Then we went door to door asking people for food, medicine supplies and clothes. Flood-relief work is still going on.

There is a fire near your house. Describe the incident.
A House On Fire
It was almost 11 p.m. I was studying for the coming SSC examination. Everyone else at home was sleeping. Suddenly there were loud cries of 'Fire, Fire !" across the street. I ran to the window and saw the top floor of the building opposite ours in flames. Some flats on the floor were afire.
There were some ladies and children on the top floor crying for help. The fire brigade arrived ten minutes later. The thick flames were rising dangerously. The cloud of smoke was billowing out of windows of the flats. It took about fifteen minutes for the fire brigade to set up their gear. Then they worked for almost an hour. With the help of the neighbors. the fire brigade could save everyone in the building.
It was quite frightening watching the house on fire. But there were loud cheers when the last person was brought down safely. Fortunately no life was lost.
