My Hobby-reading
Hobby is favorite activity, hobbit or choice of a person which he / she does regularly in his / her free time for pleasure and enjoyment. I have some hobbies like painting. photography. trekking listening to songs and reading. But reading is my favorite hobby. When I was ten, my father gave me the gift of 10 books on my 10th birthday. I read them and since then I have never looked back. I went on reading.
Reading is the best hobby because it brings variety and charm in my routine life. I go on reading newspapers, news, novels, general knowledge books or any knowledgeable book written by any good author, magazines and other material that I find interesting in my free time. I derive many benefits from this hobby. When I feel bored or tired, books refresh me. They are my never-failing friends. Reading gives me a lot of information, knowledge and recreation.
On school days I read for an hour or so, but on Saturdays and holidays I read a lot. I enjoy reading in our school library. I have also joined the Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya. I read there and sometimes bring books for reading at home.
I like to read historical stories, biographies, novels, humorous books magazines, newspapers and all sort of good literature. I read some serious types of books too. So on my every birthday I get ' a book' as a gift from my parents. This habit makes me learn about the world's wonders, space, and much more. Such books provide food for though. These books are my friends, guides and teachers. So I like reading very much.

The animals and birds of the jungle were talking by the side of the pond. It was their King's birthday on Friday. "What are you all giving the King?" asked the elephant. " I am giving him choice pieces of meat, " said the fox. "We have made a soft pillow for him," said the rabbits. "I am giving a fan made of feathers," said the peacock. Hearing them talk, the cuckoo felt sad The wise owl saw her sad face and asked her, 'Why are you sad ?" The cuckoo replied, "I don't have anything to give to the king Lion. " The owl smiled and gave her an idea.
It was the day of the King's birthday. One by one, the animals gave presents to the king. When the cuckoo's turn came, she told the King, "Your Majesty, I am going to sing a song for you." she then started singing sweetly. Hearing her sweet voice, the peacock started dancing. Many people who appear dull and quiet are actually clever, whereas other who boast a lot are really more talkative than intelligent or talented. The proverb 'Empty vessels make the most noise' suits them well. So don't get fooled like the blacksmith in this story : The busy blacksmith was one day annoyed by the presence of the village nitwit. So he tried to frighten him away by holding a red -hot piece of iron near his face. The simpleton smiled, "If you will give me fifty paise, I'll lick it, " he said calmly.
The blacksmith, eager to make a fool of the boy, at once handed him a fifty - paise coin and stretching out the red - hot iron, said, "Go ahead and lick it." To the astonishment of the blacksmith and the merriment of the bystanders, the boy ignored the red-hot iron, Instead, he held the coin up and slowly licked it. Then he hurried away whistling a merry time.
Later, the blacksmith admitted that the lesson he had learned was worth many times the price he had paid. It is said that fools learn from their own experience, while the wise learn from the experience of fools. Be wise and learn from the experience of the blacksmith not to judge by appearance alone.

Seasons Of India (Essays)
There are four main seasons common in India - Summer, Monsoon, Winter and Spring. But traditionally, there are six seasons in India. Spring (Vasant Ruthu), Summer (Grushma Ruthu), Monsoon (Varsha Ruthu), Early Autumn (Sharad Ruthu), Late Autumn (Hemantha Rutha) and Winter (Shishor Ruthu).
India is a large country extending over thousands of square miles. So, the climate of every state differs from the other. Summer begins from April and lasts up to June. Due to the scorching heat, people prefer to move off to cooler places for a vacation. This is also the season when people enjoy a variety of fruits. Monsoons arrive by mid-June and lasts up to September. The rains bring a respite from the long summer heat. The natural beauty of India with all its greenery is to be admired in this season.
The monsoon (i.e. the rainy season ) is followed by winter which lasts from October to January. After the wet spell, people have to pull out their woolens and pullovers to keep themselves warm, In most of the places, where winter is severe, people are often seen siting around the fire (shigree) at night or basking in the sun during the day. Fruits and vegetables are found in abundance in this season and are also cheap. The Spring is called the Golden Season, when fields and garden glow in rich colours. Variety of flowers bloom in this season adding beauty to nature.
Every season is celebrated in different ways in different states. Each season also has its advantages and disadvantages. But, on the whole, it beings with it a variety for man to enjoy nature at its best. 'A thing of beautify is a joy forever !'

At home, our parents and siblings love us, care for us, yet at times, we need someone who is like us - similar traits, age, common likes and dislike. We may have many friends but there are one or two who are very special to us. A true friends is not just an acquaintance whom we meet everyday. You may fear discussing an issue with your parents, but you share it with your friends who will try to help you out of difficult situations. 'A friend may not always e there with you, but will always be there for you'.
True friendship does not mean being friends for a few days or a year or two, but who are with you for years together, even though you may be miles apart. The person I like most
We all love and like our parents, grandparents, friends. But there is always someone special to us, whom we like the most. The person I like the most is my only brother, Ritesh. He is five years older than me but there is a special bonding between us. As a child, I remember crying and throwing tantrums to possess whatever he owned. My parents would scold him for not sharing, and he would lose his mood. But slowly and gradually, we became friends and I changed.
I realized that when I was in Class Five and he was in Class Ten. One day, I suddenly became unconscious in class. The teacher helped me to recover. In the meanwhile, my brother arrived. He caught me tight in his arms and comforted me. He carried me up to the autorickshaw, even though my teacher and peon were there to help me. He took me directly to the doctor. At home, he really pampered me and did not leave my bedside till our parents returned from office. I then realized, how selfish and wicked I had been to deprive him of his fun.
Soon we became the best of friends. The doctor advised me to take a few days' rest. It was at that time that he sacrificed his playtime and friends and kept me occupied with indoor games. In these few days, our lives charged. He taught me games on mobile and even helped me with some projects on computer. My bother is in college, but we share and talk about our friends, his college experiences, movies etc. We often go to movies together too. He is a gem of a person and I know I cannot stay without him.
'The bond between us is strong and deep, leaving us memories to treasure and keep.'

A Journey by Bus
It was a long weekend in August. My parents decided to go to Lonavala bus. Travelling. from Mumbai to Lonavala can be very exciting and especially if you have a window seat. We left Mumbai early Friday morning by Shivneri bus. Being a long weekend, many of them had hit the road to this getaway spot. As soon as we crossed Mumbai, we could feel the fresh air, the cool breeze brushing our cheeks. What a pleasant weather ! Slowly, the bus started moving up the gnats. There was traffic ahead. This bus was literally crawling, but we could enjoy the scenic beauty. The curves, the bends and the steep climb blocked my ears for a while. For the first time, I enjoyed the greenery, the tall and majestic Sahyadri mountains. The valleys below, the waterfalls, water gushing own the valley and small stream of water. Looking down, I could see the houses and few tribal moving about. Everything looked so tiny. I wondered how all these would appear from an aero plane.
The bus went up and down the gnats. At times we were at such narrow curves, that I NEARLY HELD MY FATHER'S ARMS TIGHTLY THE FIRST TIME. MY SISTER SITTING AHEAD OF ME WAS BUSY CLICKING AWAY SNAP ON ER MOBILE.
It had started drizzling. Suddenly we saw a rainbow between the two valleys - Oh what a sight to behold ! As we moved a little further, we were enveloped by the clouds which were so low. It looked like white fluffy cotton. The driver slowed down. He had to be cautious and careful. I could feel my heartbeats racing faster than during sports. After a three hours' journey, we finally reached Lonavala, 'The Jewel of the Sahyadri'. My heart leaped with joy ! The journey was exciting I was totally mesmerized by the beauty of the landscapes. It did not matter to me who else was on the bus. I said to myself, 'If there is Paradise on earth, it is this, it is this!'

Should mobiles be allowed in schools ?
Last week, I missed the school bus. My mother suggested that I should take an auto to reach on time. She also farced me to take her mobile. My grandmother was upset with mother. She remarked "Did you not travel to school 4 kms away ? We did not have even a telephone." But today, mobile have become a necessity. But is it necessary for school students to use mobiles in school ? I don't think so. Some parents feel that children should have one. 'Have you reached school ?" , "Did you eat your lunch ?". "Did you check your bag ?" - What a headache ! I would feel I have lost my freedom to enjoy school life.
What if the schools do permit mobiles ? Can the students concentrate on their studies ? Is there anyone to check whether it is being used appropriately or misused ? Or will teachers collect all the mobiles and lock it in the cupboard, to be used during the recess ? An unnecessary waste of time! Is there again anyone to check how the mobile is used ?
Well. I totally disagree and I strongly feel that mobiles should not be allowed in schools. There are reasons. to justify. Firstly, students do not travel far to schools. During emergencies, the school authorities can call up the parents or vice - versa. Parents can check about the child's attendance, progress, behavior etc. from time to time during the periodical Parent - Teacher meetings. Some schools have set up Apps wherein the parents are updated everyday about the activities and progress of the child.
If the students and the parents are responsible to abide by their duties, I don't think mobiles are necessary in school. They should be totally banned.
