Electronic Mail & E- mail - 2019

In the age of science and technology and in the 21st  century. E-mail is considered to be the fastest means of communication . So it is familiar around the globe for both personal and corporate communication. We can send messages at the cost of a phone call. It is cheaper than the postal route and more convenient. It is true that you need  a computer to send it but nowadays you can send it through  your mobile also.  It is more personal and direct medium for communication. Messages are delivered within seconds around the world. It allows to save and keep a record of our communication. It is easy to send within no time. Through e-mail you can send formatted documents, photos, video files and sound files. You can access your mail from anywhere with internet connection. So now it is the most trusted and popular means of connectivity. You can send a message to a group of people without disclosing their identities to one another. The lack of paper makes e-mail more environment - friendly than fax or postal mail while providing the same record keeping benefits. It is more versatile than anything else so it is very useful nowadays.

Email (electronic mail) is the exchange of computer-stored messages by telecommunication. Email messengers are usually encoded in American Standard Code for Information Interchange " ASCll " text.  However, you can also send non text files... such as graphics images and sound files .. as attachments sent in binary streams. Email was one of the first activities performed over the internet and is still the most popular use. A large percentage of the total traffic over the internet is email. Email can also be exchanged between online service provider users and in networks other than the internet, both public and private. Email can be distributed to lists of people, as well as to individuals. A shared distribution list can be managed by using an email reflector. Some mailing lists enable you to subscribe by sending a request to the mailing list administrator. A mailing list that is administered automatically is called a list server.

Email is one of the protocols included with the Transport Control Protocol / Internet Protocol " TCP / IP " suite of protocols. A popular protocol for sending email is Simple Mail Transfer Protocol "SMTP " ,  and a popular protocol for receiving it is Post Office Protocol 3 " POP3 ".

Differences Between Email and Webmail : Today, the term email is often used to include both browser - based electronic ,mail, such as Gmail and AOL, and non browser-based electronic mail, such as Outlook for Office 365. However, a distinction was previously made defining email as a non browser program that required a dedicated email server and clients. The advantages to using non browser email are integration with corporate software platforms, enhanced security and lack of advertisements.

Uses of Email : Email can be used in a variety of ways, either personally or within an organization, as well as one one on one or among a large group of people. Most people find email to be beneficial way to communicate with individuals or small groups of friends or colleagues. It enables users to easily send and receive documents, images, links and other files. Furthermore, it provides users with the flexibility of communicating with others on their own schedule.

Another beneficial use of email for one-to one or small group communication could be sending professional follow-up emails after appointments, meetings or interviews or reminding participants of approaching due dates and time-sensitive activates. It also enables users to quickly and easily remind all meeting attendees of an upcoming event or notify the group of a time change. This is assisted by the integration of calendars and appointments into most email service platforms. Furthermore, companies can use email to convey information to large to large amounts of employees, customers and potential customers. Email is frequently used for newsletters, where mailing list subscribers are sent specific, promoted content from a company, and direct email marketing campaigns, where an advertisement or promotion is sent to a targeted group of customers.

Email can also be used to turn leads into paying customers or to move a potential  sale into a completed purchase. For example,  a company may create an automated email that is sent to online buyers who keep items in their shopping cart or a specific amount of time. The email may remind the customer that they have products sitting in their cart and encourage them to complete the purchase before the items run out of stock. Follow-up emails asking customers to submit a review after making a  purchase are also common. They may include a survey asking customers to review the quality of service or the product they have recently received.

Electronic Mail, E-Mail : Short for electronic mail, e-mail or email is information stored on a computer that is exchanged between two users over telecommunications. More plainly, e-mal is a message that may contain text, files, images, or other attachments sent through a network to a specified individual or group of individuals. The first e-mail was sent by Ray Tomlinson in 1971. Tomlinson sent the e-mail to himself as a test e-mail message, containing the text "something like QWERTYUIOP". However, despite sending the e-mail to himself, the e-mail message was still transmitted through Arpanet. by 1996, more electronic mail was sent than postal mail.

Electronic mail , Email or E-mail is a  method of exchanging messages "mail" between people using electronic devices. Email was thus conceived as the electronic (digital) version of, or counterpart to , mail, at a time when "mail" meant only physical mail (hence e- + mail). Email later became a ubiquitous "very widely used" communication medium, to the point that in current use, an email address is often treated as a basic and necessary part of many processes in business, commerce, government, education, entertainment, and other spheres of daily life in most countries. Email is the medium, and  each message sent therewith is called an email. Email operates across computer networks. primarily the Internet, and also local area networks. Today's email systems are based on a store-and-forward model. Email severs accept, forward, deliver, and store messages. Neither the users nor their computers are required to be online simultaneously; they need to connect, typically to a mail server or a webmail interface to send or receive messages or downloads it.

Originally an ASCll text-only communications medium, Internet email was extended by Multipurpose Internet mail Extensions " MIME" to carry text in other character sets and multimedia content attachment's. Internationals email, with internationalized email addresses using UTF -8, is standardized but not widely adopted.

Email Program : To send and receive e-mail messages, you can use an e-mail program, also known as an e-mail clients, such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, When using an e-mail client, a server that stores and delivers your messages is used. This server is often hosted by your ISP but can be another Internet company. An e-mail client needs to connect to a sever to download new e-mail, whereas e-mail stored online is always available to any Internet - connected device. For more information about cloud e-mail service, see the difference between webmail and an e-mail client, below.

Internet E-mail: Electronic Mail or E-mail is one of most widely used services of Internet  This service allows an Internet user to send a message in formatted manner "mail" to the other Internet user in any part of world. Message in ,mail not only contain text, but it also contains images, audio and videos data. The person who is sending mail is called sender and person who receives mail is called recipient. It is just like postal mail service.

Online E-mail : An alternative way of sending and receiving e-mail (and the more popular solution for most people) is an online e-mail service or webmail. Examples include Hotmail (now Outlook.com ), Gmail, and Yahoo Mail. Many online e-mail services, including the ones we mentioned, are free or have a free account option.

E-Mail Security: Email security is the process of ensuring the availability integrity and authenticity of email communication by protecting against the risk of email threats. What is email security? Email enables billions of connected people and organizations to communicate with one another to send messages. Email is at the foundation of how the internet is used, and it has long been a target for attacks. Email security aims to help prevent attacks and abuse of email communication systems. Within the domain of email security, there are various email security protocol that technology standards organizations have proposed and recommended for implementation to help limit email risks. Protocols can be implemented by email clients and email servers, such such as Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365, to help ensure the secure transit of email. Looking beyond just protocols, secure email gateways can help organizations and individuals to protect email from various threats. How Secure is Email? By default, email is not secure for a variety of different reasons  The original implementation of email protocols, including Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, Internet Message Access Protocol and Post Office Protocol 3, did not mandate the use of secure transport mechanisms, such as Secure Sockets Layer "SSL" and Transport Layer Security "TLS". As such, connections to and from an email server  were not done over an encrypted tunnel, Which means that an intercepted message could have potentially been read by anyone.

Adding further complications, email messages are often stored on email servers in an unencrypted format. System administrators with access to an unencrypted email server could potentially gain access to read any email. A user email account can only be as secure as the server on which the email is stored. The user side of email is another area that demonstrates its inherent insecurity. Access to user email account is commonly secured by a username and password, which is often insufficient to deal with modern email threats. With the volume of data breaches continuing to grow year after year, an increasing number of email credentials have have been leaked to public sites Attackers can sometimes simply find user credentials for email services from publics data breaches. Brute - force and password - guessing attacks are also a risk of the username / password  approach to email access. Email insecurity also comes from a lack of guaranteed authenticity. It is possible and common for attackers to spoof an email address and make it appear as though a face email has come from a legitimate address. The lack of email authenticity is a common tactic used in phishing attempts, as well as spam phishing attacks that cast a wider net to attract unsuspecting,  victims to click.

We hope that this post will receive a warm welcome from students AND parents.
